Scot Ackerman, MD, FACR, is a board-certified radiation oncologist, Medical Director of Ackerman Cancer Center and Medical Director of Ackerman Urology. After completing his training at Columbia University in New York City, he relocated to Jacksonville, where he has been in private practice for more than 35 years. He has been an integral force in advancing cancer care across Florida, leading the world's first physician-owned practice to offer proton therapy to patients.
Throughout his career, Dr. Ackerman has been recognized for his dedication to providing exceptional healthcare to the Jacksonville community. He received the 2023 We Care Jacksonville, Inc. Lifetime Achievement Award and the 2016 We Care Jacksonville Award of Philanthropy for his ongoing commitment to ensuring that high-quality care is accessible to all residents in Northeast Florida.
Dr. Ackerman currently serves on the board of the Ackerman Cancer Foundation, was appointed to the Florida Board of Medicine by Governor Ron DeSantis, and works alongside Florida First Lady Casey DeSantis as one of the medical professionals serving on the Florida Cancer Connect Collaborative.

Gregory Alexander, MD, is a board-certified radiation oncologist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Thomas Jefferson University, where he serves as enterprise physician lead for LD-RT for osteoarthritis. He practices primarily at Jefferson Cherry Hill Hospital and Jefferson Washington Township Hospital.
Dr. Alexander earned his medical degree from Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University and subsequently completed a preliminary year in internal medicine at St. Luke's University Hospital in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. He then completed his radiation oncology residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident and was awarded the RSNA Roentgen Resident/Fellow research award.
Dr. Alexander's research and clinical interests are varied. He has published numerous manuscripts pertaining to tumors of the central nervous system, prostate cancers, and head and neck malignancies. Additionally, he has an interest in non-malignant diseases. He designed and serves as principal investigator for the clinical trial RADIANT-SUPPoRT, a prospective study exploring the use of radiotherapy for hidradenitis suppurativa.
Kevin Diao, MD

Kevin Diao, MD, is a board-certified radiation oncologist and Medical Director of Radiation Oncology at PIH Health, where he practices at PIH Health Radiation Oncology in Whittier and at PIH Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles. In addition to treating cancer, he leads PIH Health’s use of low-dose radiation therapy for osteoarthritis, which is offered at both locations.
Dr. Diao earned his medical degree cum laude from Harvard Medical School. He completed a transitional year internship in Riverside, California, followed by his radiation oncology residency at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
He has authored more than 30 peer-reviewed publications, with research spanning cancer treatment outcomes, patient quality of life, and advanced radiotherapy techniques. His work has appeared in leading journals, including International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology, Physics, Annals of Surgery, and Journal of Neurosurgery. He has also contributed to radiation oncology textbooks and led internationally funded cancer research education initiatives.
Zachary Oaks, MD, PhD

Zachary Oaks, MD, PhD, is a board-certified radiation oncologist at Sound Cancer Care in Puyallup, Washington. In addition to treating cancer, he uses low-dose radiation therapy for benign conditions, including osteoarthritis, Dupuytren's contracture, Ledderhose disease, plantar fasciitis, and tennis and golfer's elbow.
He earned his medical degree and a PhD in biochemistry and molecular biology from SUNY Upstate Medical University, graduating cum laude. He did a transitional year at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse, New York. He then completed his residency in radiation oncology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was chief resident.
His doctoral research was on autoimmune disease. He was first author of a 2016 study in Arthritis & Rheumatology on mitochondrial dysfunction in lupus and its response to rapamycin. Before joining Sound Cancer Care, Dr. Oaks practiced at the Hux Cancer Center at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana. He has experience with radiosurgery, stereotactic body radiotherapy, brachytherapy, and image-guided treatment.
